Mathias started his career as a Forest Engineer to complement his interest in the environment and engineering. In an international sales position, he developed an understanding of the interrelations of natural resource management and consumer markets. In a move to enhance his career he studied an MBA in Australia at Melbourne Business School. This degree provided him with a broader and deeper business understanding, analytical capabilities and strategic thinking that he now applies from a sustainability perspective.
Parallel to his studies, he developed a keen interest in sustainability which led him to start his career volunteering at the Centre for Sustainability Leadership (CSL). He then joined Business Shaper in 2008 to apply his mix of skills, knowledge and experience to advise companies on managing sustainability risks and opportunities and integrating sustainability into their overall business strategy.
